Area baseball teams advance in District tournament play

The Forest City baseball team opened up tournament play with a 10-0 win over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in 5 innings. Colton Shipman got the win on the mound for the Indians, striking out 6, and allowing just 3 hits. Ben Midtgaard had a 2 run homer, while Blaze Anderson had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Jacob Wilson had 3 hits including a double, and Shipman also had 2 hits. Forest City now takes on Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Saturday night.
GHV defeated Clear Lake 12-3 on Tuesday. An 8 run

6th inning powered the Cardinals to victory. Nick Joynt gave the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead with a 2 run homer. He ended up with 4 RBI.
Lake Mills defeated West Hancock 5-2 in Lake Mills. Slade Sifuentes had a 2 run homer in the 1st, while Dylan Eckels had a 2 run double for the Eagles. Lake Mills will play host to Northwood-Kensett Thursday night at 7 PM. That game will be on KIOW just before 7 PM tomorrow night.

The North Iowa Bison took an early 1-0 lead, but couldn’t hold off Bishop Garrigan in a 8-1 defeat in district action in Fort Dodge Tuesday night. The Bison were held to 2 hits in the game, and end their season at 6-16.
