Forest City wins Clear Lake Invitational Track meet, West Hancock Girls win in Clarion


The Forest City Boys track team won the Clear Lake invitational Tuesday night with 166.5 points. Algona finished 2nd with 152, Lake Mills had 119, Osage 103.5, Clear Lake 87, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 52, Belmond-Klemme 41, and Hampton-Dumont 17. Richard Gildemeister won the 400, and finished 2nd in the 100, 200 and Long Jump. Ryan Saarie won the High Jump, Brandon Finch won the Long Jump and was 2nd in the 400 hurdles. Seth Brock was 3rd in the 400, Ben Marmaras was 3rd in the 3,200, Kyle Brown was 3rd in the Shot Put and Discus, while Colton Shipman was 2nd in the Shot Put. The 4×800 relay team won, while the 4×400 was 2nd. Lake Mills got wins from Gabe Irons in the Discus, Grant Fjelstad in the 110 High Hurdles, Carson Rygh won the 3,200 and finished 3rd in the 1,600. The Bulldogs won the 4×200, 4×400, and Shuttle Hurdle. They also finished 2nd in the 4×100 and 3rd in the Distance Medley.

The West Hancock Girls track meet won Class B at the Cowgirl Relays in Clarion Tuesday. The Eagles were led by Kaylee Hudspeth’s wins in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while the Shuttle Hurdle, 4X100, and 4X200 relays won titles.    The Forest City Girls track team finished 5th in Class A.

Hannah Lau led the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals to a 9-1 win over Webster City in Girls Soccer Tuesday night. Lau had a hat trick, along with 3 assists. Jacki Van Oort added 2 goals, Mackenzie Van Gerpen 2 goals, and Allison Johnson and Peyton Echelberger each had a goal. GHV is now 1-1 overall, and takes on Mason City on Thursday.
