Groundbreaking is Today for the Hanson Family Fine Arts Center

It has been a hope and dream of many theatrical and musical professors at Waldorf, a much needed facility for a sizeable school district, and for many patrons of the arts in the Forest City area. Many of those individuals will be here today to finally realize that dream.

The groundbreaking for the Hanson Family Fine Arts Theater will take place to day at 305 John K. Hanson Drive beginning at 11am. The pubic is invited to attend this joint effort between the city, the school district, and Waldorf University. Parking will be at the Hanson Fieldhouse.

The theater is a two story theater encompassing 29,743 feet at a cost of $10 million. The three entities share in the cost of the construction of the building and Waldorf University has agreed to maintain the site. The completion date is slated for the fall of 2018. It can host weddings, special occasions, theatrical performances, art displays, regional and national touring groups, speaker engagements, and of the course the Waldorf University Artist Series.

Parking is divided between the site and spillover into the Hanson Fieldhouse next door. Expansion is also possible for the facility, but those would be long term goals if the need would arise.
