Forest City basketball sweeps Bishop Garrigan, Lake Mills and West Hancock advance to regional duals

The Forest City Girls basketball team kept their conference title hopes alive with a 47-46 overtime win against Bishop Garrigan Friday night. Brea Dillavou led the way with 17 points, including the game winning layup with 4 seconds left in overtime. The Indians travel to Lake Mills tonight.  Other Friday Girls basketball scores

The Forest City Boys basketball team smothered the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears, racing out to a 37-15 halftime lead as they cruised to a 67-43 win Friday night. Chris Jermeland had 17, Sam Snyder 16, and Grady Hovenga 13 for the Indians. Forest City travels to Lake Mills tonight. Other Friday Boys basketball scores:

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team won the 2A sectional at Algona Saturday with 242 points. Algona was 2nd with 187, Clear Lake 3rd with 186, Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer 18, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 128, and Forest City 126.5. The Cowboys crowned 7 champions and 2 runners-up. Clear Lake advanced champions Eric Faught at 113, Braxton Doebel at 132, and Ryan Leisure at 145. Also advancing was runner-up Dalton Mennenga at 195. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura crowned champion Conner Shaw at 170, and advanced runner-up Austin Case at 113. Forest City advanced runner up Kristian Gunderson at 138.

The Lake Mills wrestling team won the sectional title on Saturday, crowning 4 champions, and advancing 7 to districts. The Bulldogs won with 233.5 points. West Hancock was 2nd with 192, Eagle Grove had 174, Belmond-Klemme 124, South Hamilton 81, West Fork 79.5, AGWSR 75.5, and St. Edmond 62.5. Caiden Jones at 106, Michael Olson at 152, Gabe Irons at 182, and Slade Sifuentes at 195 were champions, while Tyler Helgeson at 113, Kyle Beery at 120, and Cael Boehmer at 138 were runners-up. West Hancock advanced champions Nick Lemmon at 145 and Colton Francis at 220. Runners-up also advancing were Dalton Subject at 132, Bennett Bruns at 152, Tate Hagen at 160, Jordan Weiland at 170, Hunter Hagen at 195, and Chandler Redenius at 285. Belmond-Klemme advanced champions Logan Heaberlin at 113 and Cameron Beminio at 285, and runners-up Keaton Wilson at 106 and Tucker Kroeze at 182.
