The Forest City softball team dropped their North Iowa Conference opener to Newman Catholic 9-0 Monday night. The Knights got a 1 hit shutout from Becca Huberty in the circle, as she struck out 13 Indians. Forest City hosts Saint Ansgar tonight. Other softball scores from Monday:

The Forest City baseball team jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning, before the Newman Catholic Knights ran to a 14-2 win in 5 innings Monday night. In a game heard on KIOW, the Indians got a home run from Jordan True. Jeff Anderson took the loss on the mound.
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura baseball team defeated West Hancock 7-2 Monday night. IN a game heard on B103.1, the Cardinals scores 2 runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to break the game open. The Clear Lake girls golf team sits in 4th place in Class 3A after day one of the state golf tournament. Atlantic leads with a 360, Carroll Kuemper has 361, Unity Christian 361, Clear Lake 367. Emily Snelling leads the Lions, as she shot a 78, good for 3rd place in the individual race. Bishop Garrigan is 3rd in 1A, as they carded a 371, led by Alexa Capesius, who is tied for the lead with a 76. Grundy Center had 355, and New London 369.
