Local Athletes named to INA all-state boys basketball teams

Several area athletes were named to the Iowa Newspaper Association’s All-State Boys basketball teams.   Leading the way was Forest City Junior Erich Erdman, named to the 2A 1st team.  Erdman averaged 26.7 points per game on 55.8% shooting, finishing 2nd in the state in all classes in scoring average.  He also averaged 6.4 rebounds,

The 2014 State Wrestling Tournament wrapped up Saturday night, and Forest City High School crowned another state champion.  Tyler Putney defeated Mario Pena of Hampton-Dumont for the 3rd time this season 3-2 in the ultimate tiebreaker. Putney finished the season at 46-4.  Noah Irons of Lake Mills settled for 2nd at 152 in Class 1A,

The Forest City boys basketball team clinched at least a share of the North Iowa Conference title Friday night with a 67-55 win over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. In a game heard on KIOW, Erich Erdman led the way with 23 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds. Brother Ethan had 15, Isaiah Loeschen 14, and Jordan True 11.
