Cancer Victim Wants Parole

  An inmate who was once the youngest lifer in Iowa’s correctional system has cancer and wants to die outside prison walls. A Polk County judge has resentenced Kristina Fetters and is recommending parole. Fetters was convicted of killing her great-aunt, Arlene Klehm, in 1994.

Embezzler Sentenced

A 54-year-old Mason City woman has been sentenced to more than a year in prison for embezzling nearly $70,000 from the bank where she worked. Margaret Sheese was sentenced yesterday in federal court. In a plea agreement, Sheese admitted to making 29 secret withdrawals from accounts belonging to one customer of Northwood State Bank.
