Thompson Quasquicentennial Planning Nearly Complete

The city of Thompson will be celebrating its 125th birthday on Saturday, June 10th. . Organizers are hoping that the current residents and those of past classes who attended the Thompson Community School District will return for the celebration.

The day will begin with a pancake breakfast at the fire hall from 8am to 10am followed by a car, truck, and tractor show at the fairgrounds beginning at 9am. Entertainment will begin at 10:30am with magician Mike Prestby followed by a pedal pull at 11am.

Attendees can participate in a cake walk, pie eating contest, and wheel rolling at 11am. Between 3pm to 5pm, a talent show will take place on the small stage at the fairgrounds.

Organizers are currently looking for members from each graduating class to contact fellow classmates and get them to attend the celebration. The reunion will begin at 1pm in the high school gymnasium and will include music by Jeff Buege. The reunion supper will be held  at the Branding Iron between 4pm and 8pm.Those who are able to help locate and contact their old classmates are asked to contact Cara Chapman who is one of the organizers at (641) 420-0894.

Some of the other events that are planned include a quilt raffle, a street dance, and a beer garden. The band CherryGun will perform at the dance.
