Traditionally, Race Day on Main has been held on a Saturday to coordinate with the dirt track races at the Hancock County Speedway. This year, the event moves to a Friday, today, which matches the new race nights at the speedway. Racers from the track will have their cars on Main Street from 2:30pm to 5pm so that spectators can see the cars up close and so judges can determine a Best of Show winner. Last year, some of the children in attendance got the chance to sit in the race cars.
The event is more than just a tour of the cars. Children can participate in the Big Wheel races while adults can have their turn at the Adult Trikes. The trike races are new to the Race Day on Main in an effort to get adults more involved. The event is free and open to the public.
KIOW’s “Ridin’ Dirty” returns to the Hancock County Speedway at 5:30pm where drivers will be interviewed to get their thoughts on the evening races. There is also audience participation in questions and answers. The show can be heard live on KIOW and on B-103.
The races will begin with hot laps at 7pm and races afterwards.
