GHV defeats Forest City, Lake Mills in golf, West Hancock and Lake Mills battle for 2nd on the track

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura edged the Forest City boys golf team Monday night at Rice Lake Country Club. GHV shot 172, Forest City had 174, and Lake Mills had 207. Matthew Heineman was medalist for the Cardinals with a 38. Avery Busta was runner-up medalist for Forest City with a 41. Alex Martinson led the Bulldogs with a 47. Other Boys golf scores:

Clear Lake was 2nd at the Spencer Invite Monday, shooting an 18 hole total of 311. Webster City won with a 309. Kyle Calaguas had a 75 to lead the Lions. Bishop Garrigan was 6th with a 329, and Algona was 9th with a 364.

 

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls defeated Forest City and Lake Mills at Rice Lake Monday. GHV shot 192, as Bailee Frayne shot a 41, and sister Carlee added a 43. Forest City had a 229, led by Tangkwa Auttapracha’s 51. The Bulldogs shot 238, and were led by Madison Westcott’s 53.  Other Girls golf scores:

The West Hancock and Lake Mills boys track teams battled with Estherville-Lincoln Central for the title at the North Union Godfredsen/Elliott Relays Monday. The Midgets won with 114 points, West Hancock was 2nd with 108, Lake Mills was 3rd with 107. North Iowa was 7th with 27 points. For the Eagles, MaCoy Yeakel won the Long Jump, the 4×800 team of Glen Smith, Bennett Bruns, Dylan Eckels, and Nick Lemmon won, and the Distance Medley relay team of Nick Hunt, Ben Eisenman, Lemmon, and Smith also won. For the Bulldogs, Parker Eaton won the 100 meters, Grant Fjelstad won the 110 hurdles, Gabe Irons the Discus, the 4×400 team of Grant Fjelstad, Charlie Dugger, Slade Sifuentes, and Luke Groe won,  and Shuttle Hurdle relay team of Fjelstad, Sifuentes, Alex Albert, and Dugger won. North Iowa’s Sprint Medley Team of Jacob Koppen, Austin Haisman, Isaiah Walk, and Nathan Beenken was 2nd. The 4×400 team of Koppen, Beenken, Sam Hassebroek, and Walk was also 2nd.

On the Girls side, West Hancock and Lake Mills tied for 2nd with 88 points. Spirit Lake Park won with 158 points, while North Iowa finished 6th with 49 points.  For the Eagles, Sydney Burgardt won the High Jump, the 4×100 team of Brigid Smith, Emily Ryerson, Sydney Hudspeth, and Kaylee Hudspeth won, while the same quartet won the 4×200 as well. The Eagles also won the Sprint Medley with Jade Oberhelman, Ryerson, Smith, and Kaylee Hudspeth, and the Distance Medley, running Ryann Hagen, Oberhelman, Mahayla Faust, and Marissa Eekhoff.  For the Bulldogs, Megan Groe won the 400, Lexi Groe won the 100 and 400 hurdles, the Shuttle Hurdle relay team of Dana Baumann, Mallory Wilhelm, Jessa Gasteiger, and Lexi Groe won. For the Bison, Brenna Paulson won the Discus while Kenzie Bengston was 2nd.

The Forest City Girls track team ran at the Gilbert Bengal Relays Monday, finishing with 49 points.  For the Indians, Cora Holland was 4th in the Discus, Kelsey Koch was 3rd and Noelle Jones 5th in the Long Jump, while the 4×400 relay team was 3rd, and the Distance Medley team was 4th.
