Members of the Garner Saddle Club along with members in Britt and Kanawha will ride in the 50th anniversary of the Pony Express Ride to benefit Iowa Easter Seals. Members of the Hancock County chapter will start their ride in Garner at Matt’s Place, then ride out to Klemme and eventually Kanawha.
Money collected from the ride will be used at the Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. The camp is attended by over 1,000 children and adults each year. Attendees benefit from a number of offerings at the camp including respite services, programs to help disabled farmers stay on their farms, the Bob and Billie Ray Child Development Center for integrated learning, and handicap equipment such as wheelchairs, walking aids, and other equipment.
The Pony Express Riders have raised over $10 million for the camp in past years.
