Thompson City Council to Sell Property

The Thompson City Council will meet this evening to first discuss the sale of property in the Sunset Acres subdivision. The two lots are simply listed as Lot One and Lot Two. The council has accepted bids for the properties and will be officially opening them tonight beginning at 5:30pm.

Other discussions to be had include a radar sign. Matt Beckman will talk with the council regarding the placement of the newly purchased sign. No particular site has been decided upon as of yet.

The council will be apprised of a newly created Hazard Mitigation Plan which is being worked on by Winnebago County. The city and the county are required to update plans in case of specific disasters. Winnebago County Emergency Management Coordinator Andy Buffington will brief the council next week on the updated plans and get specific ideas from the council on how the city would like to handle issues that arise in their town.

The council will also discuss mosquito spraying for the summer, junk vehicles on properties, summer employment, and a city audit in the meeting tonight in the City Clerk’s Office of the Thompson City Hall.
