The National Weather Service is warning the area tonight of a very cold precipitation that might strike tonight. Scattered showers are moving across northern Iowa and will continue to do so through the evening hours. The weather service says that there is very cold air aloft that is mixing with the water vapor in the air.
The result is that some of the showers may contain small ice pellets through the early evening hours. The pellets are not expected to be damaging and should be changing over to rain and snow for a brief period of time. Rain is expected to continue into the late evening hours before ending overnight.
Temperatures will be on the rebound on Tuesday with highs reaching into the lower 60’s.
