Those intending to travel on I-35 south of Owatonna on the south bound routes will begin to encounter a series of traffic issues today. Minnesota DOT officials will begin alternating lane closures today and on April 6th, will see a single lane route going both directions.
Eventually southbound lanes will be closed while the Minnesota DOT replaces three bridges through mid September. The Straight River Rest Area will also be closed during this time, however, the northbound side may open later this summer as construction is completed there.
The bridges are located over the Straight River, Turtle Creek, and Union Pacific Railroad. Signs will be posted about ten miles away from the construction area and speeds will be reduced accordingly.
