Waldorf University will be the host of the “Spotlight on STEM Festival” on Saturday. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Paul Gibbins, North Central Iowa Regional STEM Manager says such achievement is critical to regaining Iowa’s historic legacy as a leader in education and workforce development.
North Central Iowa STEM sponsors STEM Festivals, such as KIDZMANIA, across the region to provide a free, fun event for families to learn more about STEM opportunities both in the classroom as well as in the local workforce. The goal of the event is actually two fold according to Gibbins.
The data gathered at such events overwhelming indicates increased interest and knowledge about opportunities for youth in their local areas of the state because of participation in at STEM festival.
Spotlight on STEM will be held on April 1st from 10 am to 12 pm in the Atrium at Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa. The Atrium will be filled with various activities involving a wide range of topics which are a direct result of youth learning to expand their horizons which is the goal of STEM according to Gibbins.
