The Iowa Department of Public Health is currently reviewing proposed plans for the zero depth entry wading pool at the Buffalo Center Swimming Pool facility. The city is hoping to have the construction of the pool completed for the planned May opening this year.
The city will not be going through a formal bid letting process for the work because the cost to construct the pool is under $135,000. The city will still be seeking bids on the project after Public Health has approved the plans. Once the bid is awarded, construction is expected to begin immediately in order to meet the Memorial Day opening deadline.
The city council has been made aware that the heater, pump, and chlorinator will not be replaced because it is believed that they will all be able to handle the upgrades to the facility.
