NIACC Community Education March Programs Take Shape

NIACC Community Education is offering a variety of classes in March at Garner & Britt.  Classes range from foods & health classes, budgeting, Pinterest, smartphones, crochet and more.

Explore Ukrainian Cooking – A series of 3 classes exploring a different Ukrainian dish each night.  The class will be hands on cooking of basic Ukrainian dishes – Pelmeni (meat filled dumplings) on Monday, March 20th, Houbsti (cabbage rolls stuffed with ground meat & rice), Mon., March 27 & Borsch (vegetable soup & beets) on Thur., April 6.  Class is from 6-7:30 p.m. at the GHV Family Consumer Science room.  Take one or all 3, register for each class separately, the cost is $20 for each.   Participants will enjoy eating the food and will be able to take home what they made. 

Beginning Crochet – Learn the basics of crochet, single, half double & double stitches.  During the 4 week class participants will select & complete a project using the stitches they learned.  The class is for adults only. Class will be on Mondays beginning March 20th through April 10th at the Britt High School from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Carrier Oils – learn the uses of carrier oils in relation to the essential oils.  Hands on experiments to learn the affect of each combination.  Class is Tue., March 21, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Garner Ed Center.  Cost is $15 & course number is 107034.

More Month Than Money?  Learn how to make a spending plan to help you spend wisely & stretch your dollars.  Simple, easy to understand strategies are taught.  The class is Thur., March 23 from 6-8 p.m. at the Garner Ed Center.  Tuition is free.  Please register for 107027

Pinterest Basics – The class will introduce you to the basics of setting up & managing a Pinterest account, including adding your own image & video pins & planning for special events.  Bring a tablet or laptop. Two class options on Thur., March 23rd, noon to 1 p.m. (107042) or 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. (107060).  Class is at the Garner Library and free of charge.

Smartphones: iPhone – Make your iPhone work for you.  Learn how to use its features to the fullest & get comfortable with techno-bff Siri.  Bring your charged phone, Apple ID & password.

Class is Tue., March 28th from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Garner Ed Center.  Cost is $10 & course number is 107037.

What’s Your Diabetes Risk – More & more people are being diagnosed with prediabetes & diabetes.  What is your risk?  What steps can you take to reduce your risk? What happens to your body when it is insulin resistant?  The HCHS Diabetes Educator will address all these questions as well as healthy eating ideas & successful weight loss tips.  The class is Tue., March 28th from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Hancock County Hospital Education Room in Britt.  Class is free of charge & the course number is 107067

Make It & Take it Decorative Sign – Make your own sign on a wooden board using vinyl lettering.  You will select your colors & a favorite saying.  Class will be Thur., March 30th from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Garner Ed Center.  Tuition is $25 & course number is 107029.
