The Winnebago and Hancock County Emergency Prepardness officials are taking a proactive approach to make sure people are safe in the county during the snowstorm. The area is expected to receive anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow from the system tonight and Monday. Coupled with the winds and drifting snow, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the area until 1pm Monday afternoon.

The impact of the storm will be felt in several different ways. The snow is one, but the others include the winds which will blow the show around creating hazardous conditions for those who may even venture outside. Buffington believes that it is just best to stay home and wait out the storm.
