An annual event will not take place this year because of ice issues. The Color of the Wind Kite Festival has been cancelled according to the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. The reason given by the Chamber is due to ice conditions which they say have rapidly deteriorated. The result is that the lake will be unsafe to fly kites on and would be a danger to the participating public.
The Chamber has announced that the event is scheduled to take place next year on February 17th. That event will be covered nationally by CBS This Morning. The event would have gotten coverage this year by CBS, but those plans were put on hold with the cancellation of this years event.
