The Belmond Chamber of Commerce along with the Belmond Promotion Council are looking to honor seven or more individuals at the Community Awards Banquet on March 28th. The annual event will be held this year at the Cattleman’s Club. What the Chamber and the Council are looking for are nominations.
The awards have a long history in Belmond according to Chamber Office member Tony Andrews.
Belmond residents are asked to submit nomination forms that can be obtained at the Chamber Office or at City Hall. The Belmond Independent newspaper also has forms that are available. The nominations will be for Distinguished Service, Lifetime Community Service, Youth Service, Guardian Angel, Religious Leader or Leaders, and the Sunshine Award. Of the awards, both the Distinguished Service Award and the Lifetime Service Award have an age requirement.
There is a deadline to submit the entries is February 20th and those with questions on the criteria for each award should contact City Hall at (641) 444-3386.
