Over thirty people from eleven different towns participated in the Winnebago County Conservation Board’s Rice Lake Perch-Fishing Contest on Saturday, January 14th. The weather cooperated, even if the fish didn’t. Nonetheless, several people were able to catch enough fish to garner prizes for First through Third Places.
Although prizes were offered in both an Adult and a Youth Division, no youth caught any fish. Winning First Place in the Adult Division was Trevor Larson of Lake Mills with a 1.6 pound perch. Placing Second, with a .95 pound entry, was Shane Wagner of Fertile. And finishing in Third Place was Wayne Mannes of Lake Mills who brought in a .43 pound perch. Drawings were then held for the rest of the prizes, so non-winning adults, as well as some of the young people, were also able to walk away with some prizes!
The Winnebago County Conservation Board wants to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the contest!
