Forest City sweeps North Iowa in Basketball, area wrestling teams compete

The Forest City Girls basketball team defeated North Iowa 59-45 Friday night, and took sole possession of 1st place in the Top of Iowa Conference West Division.  The Indians are now 10-3 overall, 9-1 in conference action. Other Friday Girls basketball scores:

The Forest City Boys basketball team defeated North Iowa 50-26 Friday night. Chris Jermeland led the way with 15 points, while Grady Hovenga added 12. Taylor Baumann had 8 for North Iowa.  Other Friday Boys basketball scores:

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was 2nd and Forest City 5th at the Riceville Cat Invite. The Cardinals had 211 points, and got champions in Brady Hess at 145, Conner Shaw at 170, and Grady Umbarger at 195. Forest City got titles from Alec Fett at 120 and Tristan Springer at 182.

The Lake Mills Bulldogs won the Doug Trees Invitational on Saturday in Greene, scoring 195.5 points. West Hancock was 3rd with 149, North Butler 5th with 121, and Belmond-Klemme 8th with 68. Caiden Jones won the 106 pound title for the Bulldogs, while Michael Olson at 152, and Max Johnson at 220 were 2nd. West Hancock got titles from Hunter Hagen at 195 and Colton Francis at 220, while Nick Lemmon was 2nd at 145. Cameron Beminio was 2nd for Belmond-Klemme at 285.

At the NCC wrestling tournament, Algona finished 3rd and Clear Lake 6th. Algona got championships from Dominick Etherington at 285. Eric Faught won the title at 113 for Clear Lake. Webster City won the tournament with 199 points, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was 2nd with 190, Algona had 169, while Clear Lake 110.
