Humane Society Honors Knudson as Volunteer of the Year

The Humane Society of North Iowa recently honored Denece Knudson as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year.

Denece has been a member of the Humane Society of North Iowa Board of Directors for over 20 years, having served the last 15 years as Treasurer for the organization.  Denece has been a very active board member and does a lot of work in the community on behalf of the shelter.  She helps to plan and organize fundraising events, helps to showcase shelter animals at various events to help them be adopted, and she solicits for donations for silent auctions and other fundraising efforts.

In her capacity as Treasurer, Denece has overseen the finances of the organization.  She has done an amazing job at this and has done more than what would be expected of any other volunteer Treasurer on a Board of Directors.  As she steps away from the more hands on duties of being Treasurer, the staff and Board of Directors of the Humane Society of North Iowa would like to convey their deep appreciation for her tireless efforts.

Her trustworthiness, accuracy, dependability and commitment have been of immeasurable benefit to the financial health of the organization.

Denece clearly has a huge heart for animals and for the Humane Society of North Iowa. Her dedication to helping animals is apparent in all that she has done and continues to do. “I have enjoyed the many years I have been associated with Humane Society of North Iowa.  Seeing animals get a forever home has been very rewarding and it has been amazing to see the organization grow into what it is today,” said Knudson.
