Players Helped Warriors to 68-42 Win

The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its second edition of the players-of-the-week honors on Monday. Waldorf College’s Cory Evans was selected as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week and Dustin Wilke was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Evans, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore defensive back from Tampa, Fla., recorded 10 total tackles, intercepted three passes and broke up a pass to help the Warriors (2-0) pull away for a 68-42 win over Trinity Bible College (0-1) on Saturday at Forest City. He has a total of five interceptions through the first two games this season.

Wilke, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound kicker from Holzgerlingen, Germany, is the Special Teams Player of the Week for the second straight week. He connected on all nine of his point-after attempts and added a 24-yard field goal for Waldorf against the Lions. Wilke’s 12 kickoffs totaled 511 yards and he recorded five touchbacks. He punted five times for a total of 210 yards, including a 73-yard punt.

Waldorf continues the season this Friday against defending NCAA Division III champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (0-0). The Warriors and No. 1 Warhawks take the field for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Whitewater, Wis.
