There will be a Finance Committee meeting on Monday, August 25, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 305 North Clark Street, Forest City, IA. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the City lot adjacent to City Hall with Stephen & Tamera Sheehan.
The topic has become a focal point since the couple approached the city over two months ago on renting or buying the property behind the library. The library has been quick to point out that they would want to expand in the near future onto that lot. Mayor Rick Skjeie asked the library to formulate a survey and bring the results back to the council. The Mayor also asked City Attorney Steve Bakke to draw u a rental agreement that amounts to a capital lease. The lease would allow the couple to own the property after five years. The council approved the idea and now the Finance Committee will deal with the overall innerworkings of the lease.
