The Waldorf College women’s basketball team was recently recognized for academic achievement, earning Scholar-Team honors from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
“Each year, women’s basketball players have added to the quality of academics on campus,” said retiring Waldorf coach Denny Jerome. “I’m proud of the tradition of excellence they have displayed in the classroom.”
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the academic institution. The team’s grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes. The Warriors recorded a 3.13 team GPA during the 2013-14 academic year.
The women’s basketball team is one of two Waldorf athletic programs to earn Scholar-Team recognition this past year. The men’s golf team was also honored as a Scholar-Team.
