Hancock County Fair Afternoon Events Today

The Hancock County Fair will be very busy today with several interesting events to attend. Beginning at 12pm the Commercial Building opens as does the Hancock County Conservation Department demonstration trailer. the trailer will have all kinds of interesting displays to explore.

Juggler Dan Kirk who has appeared on America’s Got Talent will perform on the free stage. Kirk literally juggles just about anything and has shows today at 12pm and 3pm.

At 12:30pm, in the spirit of Harry Potter, there will be a Cribbage Tournament, without he brooms of course. The site has yet to be determined so if you want to watch the event, check in with the information booth at the fair.

At 1pm, the 4-H and Open Cat and Pet Show will have its participants check in at the Shelter House. The judging portion of the event will take place beginning at 1:30pm.

Also at 1pm, the chainsaw sculptors will take the grounds and begin sculpting things such as bears, eagles, and other interesting statues.

The 2pm hour is a very busy hour which starts with free watermelon. Check with the information booth as to where on the fairgrounds it is offered. Meanwhile at the Ag Museum, they will have a hog calling contest along with an oats threshing demonstration, and a corn shelling demonstration. Over in the east end of the Horse Arena, there will be a Skid Loader Rodeo.

To other interesting events take place in the 2pm hour. The first is the Mystery Bag Cook-Off where participants are given a bag of ingredients and spices, then are asked to come up an interesting dish. Also beginning at 2pm and running through 7pm, the “I Make America” Harley Tour. See our story on the event.

At 3pm Dan Kirk hits the stage again as well as the Kids Pedal Pull on the Sidewalk at the Horse Arena. Then at 3:30pm, the 4-H Style Show takes place on the Free Stage.

At 4pm, the kids can cool off with a Kid’s Water Fight which will take place south of the swine barns. The Conservation demonstration trailer will open up for the evening and at 4:30pm at the Shelter House, the Pork Barbeque will be starting and it is sponsored by the Hancock County Pork Producers.
