Forest City, Lake Mills baseball teams seasons end with district final losses Saturday night

The baseball season came to a close Saturday night at both Forest City and Lake Mills fell in district finals. Forest City fell at home to Eagle Grove 12-0. Tyler Vorrie tossed a 5 hitter for the Eagles, while Jeff Andersen took the loss on the mound for the Indians, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings of work. Forest City ended their season at 18-12. The Lake Mills Bulldogs fell to 2nd ranked Newman Catholic 9-4. The Bulldogs fell behind 4-0 early, then clawed their way back into the game before the Knights put it away with a 5 run 4th inning. Taylor Throne took the loss on the mound. Lake Mills ends their season at 23-8, while Neman Catholic moved to 33-3, and will take on Bishop Garrigan tomorrow night in Algona in the substate final. Other Saturday baseball scores:

The state softball tournament opens today in Fort Dodge with quarterfinal games in classes 3A and 4A, along with a pair of 5A quarterfinals. The remainder of the quarterfinal round takes place on Tuesday
