Blank Park Zoo Visits KIOW (Audio)

Blank Park

While sometimes work can be “a zoo”, an actual zoo came to visit KIOW this week. KIOW News Director A. J. Taylor sat down with Ryan Bickel (above with an alligator) of the Blank Park Zoo to talk about the “critters” wandering about the station. Bickel takes these exhibits to area public libraries and schools to give children first hand accounts of the animals, their habitats, and dangers. Children of all ages are entertained by the traveling show and come away with a greater understanding of the natural world around them.

The effort is part of an outreach program by the Blank Park Zoo to children in locations that may not get the chance to visit an actual zoo.

The collaborative effort is an ongoing program by the Blank Park Zoo and rural Iowa communities.
