All Clear: Flash Flood Watch Discontinued, but Danger Persists (Audio)

The National Weather Service has lifted the Flash Flood Watch for the area. With the storms moving away frrom our listening area and into eastern parts of Iowa, forecasters decided to lift the watch. A watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding to occur, however those conditions already exist in the Forest City area. Along Bear Creek Golf Course, the back nine are already flooded as are the softball diamonds. THe Winnebago River had crested early Friday, but with the additional rains in the last 24 hours, the river may yet again rise.

Winnebago County Engineer Scott Meinders told KIOW News that the Winnebago River is also affecting roads near Lake Mills:

Kossuth County has declared a state of emergency regarding the flood waters and is seeking state aid. As more storms move into the area, watches and warnings may again be issued. Check back with the KIOW website for more details.
