Fireworks will go on as planned for the Tree Town Festival tonight in Heritage Park of North Iowa. The Forest City Council met on Wednesday and unanimously approved the Fireworks Ordinance that specifically allows the festival organizers to shoot off the display between 10:30pm and 11pm. The fireworks will go off on three nights, tonight, Sunday, and Monday. Festivals like these typically will have the pyrotechnics on all three nights of the event.
The special session was called for because of another item on the agenda which was to approve a resolution to set a Public Hearing on a 2014 Budget amendment regarding spending. The Street Maintenance Division had to spend more than allotted in the current budget for clearing roads impacted by last winters snow storms. That measure also was approved. The hearing was set for June 16, 2014 at 7pm.
