The Forest City boys golf team won the North Iowa Conference title Tuesday afternoon at Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City, shooting a 357. The Indians defeated Lake Mills and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura by 2 strokes, as each shot a 359. Belmond-Klemme was 4th with a 364, while Newman Catholic had 369, North Iowa 387, Osage 396, and West Hancock 470. Wes Buntenbach of Belmond-Klemme was meet medalist for the 2nd year in a row, shooting a 77. Jacob Heinemann of GHV was 2nd with a 79. Daniel Melby of Forest City was 3rd with an 86, teammate Andrew Rust was 4th with 87, while teammate Jacob Wilson was tied for 6th with an 88. Hunter Kingland led Lake Mills with an 87. GHV coach Todd Greiman was named conference coach of the year.
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team won the NIC title in Britt Tuesday, shooting a 401. Osage was 2nd with 414, Newman Catholic had 443, North Iowa 484, Lake Mills 490, Forest City 504, and Belmond-Klemme 550. Carlie Eckenrod of Newman Catholic was medalist for the 2nd year in a row, carding a 92. Kyleigh Slaichert of GHV was runner-up with a 94, while teammate Madee Hejna was 3rd with a 95.
The Clear Lake boys golf team won the North Central Conference tournament Tuesday in Webster City, defeating Webster city by 3 strokes, 318 to 321. St. Edmond was 3rd with 333, Humboldt had 336, Clarion-Goldfield 342, Algona 349, Iowa Falls-Alden 353, Bishop Garrigan 363, Hampton-Dumont 369, and Eagle Grove 385. Trenton Sann of Clarion-Goldfield was meet medalist with a 75, while Dane Waldron of Clear Lake was runner-up medalist with a 77.
The Bishop Garrigan girls won the NCC meet Tuesday, shooting a 376 in Iowa Falls. Clear Lake was 2nd with 380, Humboldt had 387, Clarion-Goldfield 388, Algona 405, Webster City 407, St. Edmond 412, Eagle Grove 413, Iowa Falls-Alden 438, and Hampton-Dumont 457. Alexa Capesius of Garrigan was medalist with a 75. Emily Snelling of Clear Lake was 2nd with an 81.
