The Garner-Hayfield Board of Education will convene this evening to hear educational reports from the elementary music department and from the nursing department. They will also hear from Superintendent Williams who will recognize members of the board for their hard work this year. The board has weathered through the possible merging of school districts with the Ventura Community School District. Now that the Area Education Agency has given its stamp of approval on petitions to merge, the board now waits on a public vote in the garner-Hayfield district and the public hearing and vote in Ventura. The hearing is set for May 20th, but the date of the vote has yet to be determined.
During the meeting, there will also be administrative reports from various departments and then the board will turn its attention to district policy discussions. The board will then go into a closed session where they will have negotiations with non-bargaining employees and then they will either approve the individual contracts or table them.
