Lifeguard Situation at Lake Mills Improves

The Lake Mills City Council has approved the wages and incentives for lifeguards at the Lake Mills Aquatic Center. Now those who work in the concession and admissions areas will receive anywhere between $7.25 to $7.40 an hour. Lifeguards will receive anywhere between $7.50 to $9 an hour. Also as an incentive to try and increase the pool of lifeguards at the center, the city has gone ahead and offered to pay for the lifeguard training program for all pool employees. The cost to become a certified lifeguard is around $300. The city did stipulate that if the employee quits before the end of a full year, they would have to pay back the cost of the training in full.

In addition to adding to the nine lifeguards already hired, the city is also looking for a pool manager.
