Forest City Schools Offering Free Summer Lunch Program (Audio)

The Forest City Community School District is once again offering a free breakfast and lunch for all kids in the district from June 9th to August 8th. Forest City Superintendent Darwin Lehmann explains that this is a very beneficial summer long event:

The program will have transportation for all kids to and from the elementary school, but kids can also walk to the school as Lehmann explains:

What may interest parents is that there is more to the program than just a free meal. The school district has teamed up with groups who will keep kids involved throughout the summer.

The summer lunch program is now going into its third year and it has proven that there is a definite need on the Forest City community for the program. What is surprising is the number of meals that have been served over the past two years.
