Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) Plans for the Future

Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP)-a division of Hancock County Wellness Coalition, held a Strategic- Action Planning Training on April 23 at the Britt United Methodist Church. Coalition members from ASAP and mentoring coalition, Garner Asset Project, were able to utilize community data, sharpen their substance abuse prevention logic models, and effectively choose strategies to begin to plan their work for the coming year. Once the strategic plan is finalized with identified actions it will be shared with community members.
Heidi Bainbridge, Van Buren County SAFE Coalition Director, from Keosauqua, Iowa led the day-long training session. Bainbridge is an IC&RC Board Certified Prevention Specialist with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Iowa Wesleyan College and a Master’s degree in Prevention Science from the University of Oklahoma. The SAFE Coalition was honored in 2011 with CADCA’s Got Outcomes Coalition of the Year Award. ASAP meets the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon in the Board Room at Hancock County Memorial Hospital. The meetings are open to the public.
