Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys finished 2nd at the Lake Mills Bulldog Relays Thursday night.  The Cardinals had 134 points, 10 behind champion Saint Ansgar. Osage was 3rd with 104, Lake Mills had 100, West Hancock 35, Forest City 17, and Central Springs 12.  For the Cardinals, Chase Smith won the 1600, Joel Toppin won the 3200, Braden Meints won the high jump, and the 4×100 and shuttle hurdle relay teams also won.  For Lake Mills, Taylor Throne finished 2nd in the 800, Lincoln Boehmer finished 2nd in the 110 high hurdles, Scott Aamodt 2nd in the 3200, Mateo Pena 2nd in the long jump, the 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 all finished 2nd as well.


Dasiana Larson of the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls track team, finished 2nd at the Drake Relays in the shot put, throwing 42 feet, 2 ½ inches.  Larson was the defending champion in the event. Shelby Gunnells of Solon won the event with a toss of 42 feet, 4 ½ inches.


Chandler Diercks of Clear Lake won the boys long jump with a career best jump of 23 feet, 10 inches.  Diercks finished 2nd in this event last year at Drake, and won the 3A title at state last year.
