The Forest City Boys golf team defeated North Iowa 171-185 in their season opener on Tuesday. Andrew Rust led the way shooting a medalist round of 37, while teammate Daniel Melby was runnerup with a 38.  Other boys golf scores:

North Iowa defeated Forest City in girls golf Tuesday. Sydney Giesking was medalist for North Iowa with a 50.  Nicole Skjeie led Forest City with a 52.  Other girls golf scores:

The Forest City girls track team finished 5th at the Cardinal Relays in Garner Tuesday night with 54 points.  Clarion-Goldfield won with 107, Lake Mills had 106, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 103, Hampton-Dumont had 91.  For the Indians, Maggie Mathiasen won the 800 while teammate Emily Koch finished 2nd. Forest City also finished 2nd in the 4×800 meter relay.  Lake Mills got wins from Makenzie Thorson in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Lexi Groe in the 400 hurdles,    Garner-Hayfield/Ventura got victories from Emily Mathews in the long jump and 100 hurdles, Taylor Vessberg in the high jump, the shuttle hurdle, sprint medley, and 4×100 meter relays.  In Class B, Bishop Garrigan was team champion with 114 points, Newman Catholic was 2nd with 106, West Hancock had 85, Northwood-Kensett 80. West Hancock’s Whitney Burgardt won the 100 hurdles, while the 4×100 also won.  For North Iowa, Krista Hovland won the 400 hurdles, while the 4×800 meter relay team also won.
