The audit report for the West Hancock School District has been officially released this week. In it, the audit firm of Cornwell, Frideres, Maher, & Associates found that the districts revenues totaled $8,091,776 for the year ending June 30, 2013. That is a 1.2% decrease from 2012. Revenues included $3,832,489 in local taxes, charges for service of $407,083 operating and capital grants, contributions, and restricted interest of $1,510,660, unrestricted interest of $18,208 and other general revenues totaling $2,323,334.
Expenses for the districts operations totaled $7,493,645 which is a 1.4% decrease from 2012. Expenses for the district included $4,444,958 for instruction, $1,879,851 for support services, $813,775 for other expenses, and $355,061 for non-instructional programs.
The auditors and the district will keep copies of the report in the district secretary’s office, as well as the Office of the Auditor of the State, and the Auditor of the State’s website at http://auditor.iowa.gov/reports/index/html. The copies are available for public inspection. These reports are done on an annual basis as required by Iowa state law.
