Eagle Grove hosted the Umstead Relays on Tuesday, April 8th, and several area boys track teams teams were in competition. The Forest City boys were led by Grant Lehmann, who won the Class A high jump by clearing 6 feet. Mitch Krien was 4th in the 800 meter run, Tommy Swanson was 4th in the 3200 meter run, while the 4×400, 4×800, and distance medley relays all finished 2nd. The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals were led by Joel Toppin, who won the 1600 meter run and Logan Dalbeck, who won the 3200 meter run. Mason Wirtz was 3rd in the 3200, Sam Cataldo was 3rd in the 400 hurdles, Braden Meints was 3rd in the high jump, while Adam Monson was 3rd in the 100. The Cardinals also won the 4×100, finished 2nd in the shuttle hurdle, and were 3rd in the 4×200.
In Class B, the West Hancock Eagles were led by Joey DeHart’s 2nd place finish in the 400 meter dash, Jacob Hejlik was 3rd in the 110 hurdles, Jordan Savoy was 3rd in the discus, while the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 meter relay teams all finished 3rd. Lake Mills was led by Noah Irons, who won the discus, Levi Meyer was 2nd in the Long Jump, the 4×200 and 4×800 relay teams finished 1st, while the Distance Medley was 2nd. The Belmond-Klemme Broncos got a win from Taylor Meints in the long jump, while Adam Smith was 3rd in the 200 meter dash.
