As KIOW News reported earlier this week, Belmond Police Chief Frank Beminio retired after a number of distinguished years at the helm of the Belmond Police Department. The announcement was made to the entire Belmond City Council in a recent meeting. This left Belmond Mayor Al Mattison with a decision as to who to replace him.
As expected, Mattison went before the council this week to nominate Richard McDaniel as the new Police Chief. The council unanimously voted in favor of the nomination and so McDaniel has begun in the role as of Wednesday. McDaniel has been with the Belmond Police Department since April of last year. Prior to that, he spent 18 years with the Eagle Grove Police Department.
