An Iowa City woman has refused extradition to Colorado to face a murder charge. 21-year-old Bionca Rogers on Thursday refused to waive extradition proceedings. Linn County prosecutor Nick Maybanks says Rogers will remain in Iowa custody until Colorado completes paperwork to return her to Colorado Springs.
Rogers surrendered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday. It’s unclear whether she had a lawyer. She’s suspected in the slaying of 61-year-old Grant Frazier. Frazier was last seen Feb. 16, and police say Rogers was with him. His body was found this week in Newton, Iowa.
Iowa court documents filed in August 2012 list her home address as an apartment complex in Iowa City. Other documents say she was working at an Iowa City fast-food restaurant.
