University of Iowa President Sally Mason says she looked forward to explaining her plans to combat sexual assault to the Iowa Board of Regents.
The regents had a special meeting Friday afternoon to hear an explanation from Mason about her recent comment that ending sexual assault probably wasn’t realistic “just given human nature.”
The regents are then met behind closed doors. The meeting notice did not explain the purpose or topic of the closed-door session, but regents typically do that to discuss personnel matters.
Mason has repeatedly apologized after some students said they were offended by her remark. She told reporters Thursday she was happy to tell the regents about her plans, and is glad “they are engaged and interested.”
