BREAKING NEWS: Explosion and Fire in Northwood Forcing Evacuation

The Worth County Emergency Management, the Worth County Sheriffs Department, all Northwood Emergency Services have responded to an explosion and fire at the Northwood Municipal Airport. Residents are ordered to evacuate the city because the fire involves sulfuric acid containers.

Residents have to report to the Kensett Community Center approximately six miles south of Northwood where they will be taken to shelter from the fumes and danger. The Worth County Sheriffs Office has staged busses for transportation there. If residents do not have transportation to the center, they must contact the Sheriff’s Office at (641) 324-2481 to be transported away from the danger.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined as firefighters are doing everything they can to contain the blaze.
