High Wind Watch Remains in Effect from Thursday Morning Through Thursday Night

From the National Weather Service: A High Wind Watch will be in effect beginning Thursday morning and remain in effect through Thursday night.

* TIMING…Winds will increase through the afternoon on  Thursday. The strongest winds should occur during the afternoon hours.

* WINDS…Northwest winds of 30mph to 40mph on Thursday with gusts in excess of 55 mph are possible. Some these could be sustained winds at or near that speed.

* IMPACTS…Loose objects will get blown about in the winds. In addition, small branches may break.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind watch means that there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of 40mph or higher or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor kiow.com or on KIOW for the latest forecasts.
