With the City Council still having to approve the formal agreement on the proposed law enforcement facility,Winnebago County has set March 4th as the date when voters approve the bond referendum. The facility is supposed to be built in Forest City near the Chouteau Inn. It is projected to be 20,000 square feet and house 22 beds, offices, and processing stations.
The Forest City Council has voted in favor of the shared facility, but has not taken any action on the formal cooperative agreement with the county.
The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors did not vote unanimously in favor of the agreement. Mike Stensrud essentially abstained based on his concerns that the voters who travel south for the winter would not be back in time for the vote on March 4th. He felt it wiser to delay the vote until later so that those voters could return back in time for the referendum.
