The Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and Lime Creek Nature Center are sponsoring an Ice Fishing Derby. It will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at Bluebill Wildlife Area.
The idea is to have a fun morning of fishing for all. Officials say that there will be a fire going for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Following the fishing a weigh-in will be held to recognize the biggest and most fish caught, and a door prize drawing will be held for both children and adults.
Experts will be on hand to assist novices with ice fishing techniques. A limited supply of equipment will be available for use, however anglers can buy an ice fishing pole and jig for $10.00.
Participants who are 16 and over must have a valid fishing license. Everyone should bring ice fishing equipment, a bucket to put fish in, and dress for the weather. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and contestants need to call 423-5309 to register or for more information.
