Belmond-Klemme Superintendent Kirk Nelson said today that the district is working to start a plant maintenance class and a welding class, with a NIACC instructor. Welding and other equipment is being sought, and of course, donations are welcome. We talked with Nelson about the program and its impact on the community:
According to Nelson, even if you do not have equipment, if you know of someone who might, please let him know. Also, if you know of farmers or other individuals who may have such equipment, that would be good information, too.
This project, in combination with the Iowa Central Academy project in Wright County, is another step in efforts to “grow our own” workforce for the future. Any and all help would be appreciated.
