The city of Livermore will have a new city hall. However, one third of the population has put together a petition to say not to. 129 of the 380 residents in Livermore said they want the city to take the payout from an insurance company and apply it to a new well and a new fire station. They said that those were top priorities for the city to pursue. The insurance payout came from the damages suffered to the current city hall from two separate storms that rolled through the area.
The council voted in favor of a new building which would increase the size of the hall and would cost an estimated $260,000. This would mean the city would have to find an additional $127,000 to fund the construction of the new city hall.
