SPORTS NEWS DECEMBER 20 2013

The Forest City boys basketball team escaped Charles City with a non-conference win Thursday night 56-53. In a game heard here on KIOW, Erich Erdman led the way with 23 points, while twin brother Ethan had 11. The Indians went 17 of 20 from the free throw line in the win.  Forest City is now off until January 3rd, when they travel to Cresco to take on Crestwood in non-conference action. 

The Osage boys basketball team used a 20-4 2nd half run to defeat the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals 65-58 Thursday night. Nate Haaland had 30 points for the Green Devils, while Braden Meints had 30 for the Cardinals.

The Forest City girls basketball team fell to Charles City 70-29 in non-conference action Thursday night.

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls basketball team fell to Osage 43-37 Thursday night. Maddie Tusha had 10 for the Cardinals, while Jadee Walsh had 13 to pace the Green Devils.

The West Hancock wrestling team went 1-2 at the Newman Quadrangular on Thursday night. In duals heard on B103.1, the Eagles defeated Rockford 36-30, while falling to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 57-24, and Newman Catholic 45-30.  GHV fell to Newman 43-35, and defeated Rockford 52-30.

Tomorrow on KIOW, the Waldorf College men’s basketball team takes on Dakota State University in non-conference action.  Game time is 3 PM.
